Document Description
Widen SR 46 into a 4-lane expressway. Project involves the construction of 2 net eastbound lanes to the south of the current SR 46 which will become the 2 westbound lanes thus widening SR 46 into a 4 lane expressway. There will be a 61 ft wide median, except between PM 32.2 and 34.4 where it will be a 46.3 ft wide to minimize environmental impacts. The shoulders will be widened and left-turn lanes added at all public road intersections, which will be constructed to Caltrans full expressway standards. No median barriers will be constructed, and the existing k-rail west of Jack Ranch would be removed. The Project will result in impacts to 613.6 acres of kit fox habitat, including temporary impacts to 280.1 acres; the Project will permanently remove 333.5 acres of San Joaquin kit fox habitat. DFG, as a reponsible agency, is issuing an Incidental Take Permit for the San Joaquin kit fox, which is protected by the California Endangered Species Act and which could be taken as a result of the Project.
