Document Description
This project consists of the construction of a standard California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CDF), two-engine forest fire station, including a twelve-person barracks, mess hall, a 3-bay apparatus building, an office/telecommunications building, a bulldozer shed, a fuel building, utilities and paving. The project also includes demolition and removal of the exisiting buildings from the site. The existing CDF forest fire station structures are more than forty years old, and are too small to house new, larger fire engines and related equipment. In addition, the existing buldings no longer meet health and safety Codes. These buildings are not eligible for inclusion in the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP). Because the site has been heavily disturbed by human activities, there are no sensitive biological or cultural resources present. All work will be performed within the existing developed site. This project qualifies for a Categoricla Exemption, Class 2, SEction 15302, under the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) Guidelines.
