Document Description
The proposed project consists of remodeling and rehabilitationg the California African-American Museum. Proposed improvememts include: re-roofing, replacing the HVAC units with new energy-efficient units and improving distribution, insulating and sealing the exterior of the building, enclosing storage areas, repairing glass sculpture court, ADA and fire/life safety corrections, and installing a security camera system. The project is needed because the roof of the museum, the glazing system of the sculpture court, and other parts of the building have numerous leaks that must be repaired before the interior of the building. Including exhibit areas, are seriously damaged by water intrusion. In addition, the HVAC system is obsolete and continually breaks down. The proposed project would provide the museum with additional storage space and would correct code deficiencies for ADA and fire/life safety.
