Document Description
This project involves the demolition and removal of the existing Rocky Butte Lookout tower and cab in preparation for the construction of a communications tower and vault. The construction of the communications tower and vault is covered in a separate CEQA document filed Feb 6, 1990. The Rocky Butte lookout has been abandoned, and no longer serve as a lookout facility. A data search and site survey conducted by a qualified biologist indicates that there are no special status species or sensitive habitat within the project site. A site survey by a qualified archeologist did not disclose the presence of cultural remains. The Rocky Butte lookout has been surveyed for historical status, and is not historically significant. The lookout is not open to the public.
