Document Description
The City of West Sacramento is proposing to rehabilitate an existing outfall pipeline that discharges treated wastewater through an 11-mile long outfall, which begins at the Wastewater Treatment Plant on South River Road and ends at the Sacramento River upstream from the community of Clarksburg. The outfall pipeline was constructed in 1980. Many of the valves on the pipeline are in direct contact with soil and water and have corroded. It was determined that the pipeline should be rehabilitated through protection with a new cathodic protection system, replacement of all air-release/vacuum-breaker valves, removal of manual blow-off valves that are corroded and not used, and restraining of joints in specific locations. Project-related disturbance would be contained within an 11-mile corridor containing the City's approximately 15-foot pipeline easement. This corridor crosses approximately 40 parcels through mostly undeveloped land. Much of the pipeline is located within the Yolo Shortline Railroad right-of-way on highly disturbed lands.
