Document Description
The California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection proposes to replace existing facilities at the San Luis Obispo Ranger Unit Headquarters. Proposed project would construct four facilities, an Administration and Emergency Command Center Building, an Apparatus Building, a Service Center and a 120' Radio Communications Tower. Heavy equipment maintenance functions now carried out in the Equipment Shop at the Headquarters site will be moved off site to Camp Cuesta located within the boundaries of Camp San Luis Obispo. Proposed site improvements will include landscaping, additional onsite parking, security lighting, and installation of a traffic signal equipped with a signal preemption device to facilitate safer emergency vehicle exiting onto State Highway 1. The project is needed to consolidate operations, more effeciently house communications and operational equipment and to modernize facilities that serve administrative, maintenance and emergency response activities. The project would not increase the size of operations or the number of personnel at the Ranger Unit Headquarters.
