Document Description
The proposed project will rehabilitate and upgrade the Lincoln Theater, located in the Recreation Building on the grounds of the Veterans Home of California. The project will improve stage lighting, install new acoustical equipment, a mechanical lift and enlarge the stage apron. The theater floor will be regraded, new seats installed, and a balcony will be added. The existing lobby will be replaced with an enlarged lobby/ gallery. Bathroom facilities will be constructed on the north side of the existing building. The theater will also be seismically strengthened as a part of a separately approved seismic upgrade project for the entire Recreation Building. The seismic strengthening of the theater wing will occur simultaneous with the renovation project. Electrical and utilities will be upgraded and new HVAC will be installed. Site improvements include the addition of a landscaped patio and fountain area adjacent to the theater entry. The renovations are necessary in order for the theater to continue to serve the Veterans Home and local community. Improvements will allow the theater to attract professional theatrical venues and concerts.
