Document Description
The proposed project is the installation of modular housing and other modular facilities in the lower quarry on the UCSC campus. The project includes the relocation of 17 modular housing units and 2 modular support units from the College Nine and Ten site on the north campus, the probable relocation of 5 modular support units within the lower quarry, and the installation of 1 new modular support unit. The Modular Student Housing Relocation project would provide bedspaces for approximately 152 students in 17 modules of student housing with a total of approximately 30,000 outside gross square feet (ogsf) of space. Each student residential module would be approximately 27 feet by 65 feet in size, and would provide nine single bedspaces, three bathrooms, and a small lounge. Three of the units would be ADA accessible (i.e., would conform to the requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act). Three additional 1,100 ogsf modular units (approximately 27 feet by 40 feet in size) would provide space for an on-site manager's apartment, a second would provide space for a laundry room, and a third would provide space for a kitchen. The project would also include the construction of a 24-foot by 36-foot wood-frame maintenance shed. The project would probably include the relaction of 4 of the modular elements of the existing office/research complex (used by Environmental Studies) and the relocation of 2 additional on-site modular units for incorporation into the office/research complex.
