The District's 58,000-acre retail water service area consists of the unincorporated communities to El Sobrante, Eagle valley, Lake Mathews, Temescal Creek, Woodcrest, and March Air Reserve Base (portion), in western Riverside Coounty. Within this service area, the District operates and maintains a domestic water system of 242 miles of pipeline, ranging from 4 to 72 inches in diameter, as well as 71 pumping units and 22 water storage tanks.
Document Description
The proposed project is designed to lead to authorizations under California Fish and Game Code Section 1601, and Clean Water Act Sections 401 and 404, including a authorization for potential impacts to listed species pursuant to Section 7 of the Federal Endagered Species Act and Section 2080.1 of the California Fish and Game Code. These actions are consistent with the goals of the October 1995 Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the Distsrict and the USFWS related to the need for emergency repair of District facilities and resultant requirement for compliance with regulatory programs addressing riparian resources and edangered or threatened species.
