Document Description
The proposed project is located in the State Route 156 corridor in Monterey County between Castroville Boulevard and State Route 101 near Prunedale. The existing section of State Route 156 (KP2.5/7.8) is a two-lane conventional highway. The purpose of this project is to relieve congestion and improve safety. Five alternatives are currently under consideration: 1) is the No Action or No Build alternative 2) would construct a median and two additional lanes directly south of the existing travelway 3) would add two lanes as above parallel to and south of the Caltrans right-of-way and its scenic oak trees. 4) would construct four new lanes south of existing State Route 156 and the Caltrans right-of-way and its scenic oak trees 5) would construct four or six new lanes south of existing State Route 156 approximately along the existing alignment of Espinosa Road All build alternatives include construction of interchange improvements at State Routes 156 and 101.
