Document Description
The Contra Costa County Public Works Department proposes to replace the existing two-lane, 22-foot wide by 31-foot long Bailey Road Bridge. A new two-lane 32-foot wide by 40-foot long reinforced concrete slab structure will be constructed in approx. the same location as the existing bridge. A small permanent easement (0.08 acre) will be obtained from the Concord Naval Weapons Station in order to accommodate the slight expansion in size of the bridge. In addition, the County will require a temporary easement on the Weapons Station property to accommodate construction activities. Restriping will allow the existing 11-foot wide lanes of Bailey Road to meet the 12-foot wide lanes of the new bridge. Depending on the abutment system chosen, loose rock slope protection (RSP) may be required at the base of the bridge to minimize erosive flow damage. If used, the RSP will be covered with soil and seeded above the ordinary high water mark, upon completion of the project. In order to construct the new abutments, minor grading of approx. 160 square feet of creek.
