Document Description
The project proposes to general plan and zone 40 acres of agricultural land to Planned Industrial to allow the following project: MTC Distributing is a packaged food distributing facility serving grocery stores, mini markets, and other stores in the greater central valley area. This is a facility which typically receives bulk goods including candies, chips, cigarettes, among other items and then distributes these products to the end retailer. MTC Distributing currently operates in the City of Modesto on Cummins Drive. MTC proposes to construct an approximately 150,000 square foot warehouse building where all products will be received, cataloged, broken down and then redistributed to the end retailers. The site is approximately 18 acres and will also include approximately a 15,000 square foot office, a small Day Care facility and fueling facility. The facility will operate 24 hours per day, five days a week. There will be approximately 200 employees. Approximately two-thirds of the employees will work Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The other one-third of the employees will man the other two shifs through the evening and into the early morning. The site will accept about 20 trucks per day of product which will arrive at the site and drop off their loads between 6:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.
