The proposed project involves the sale and distribution of reclaimed water, with a regional area of influence encompassing San Bernardino, Riverside, and Orange counties, and potentially extending to include Los Angeles, San Diego, and Ventura counties. The treatment facilities that would be the sources of reclaimed water supply are located in southwest San Bernardino County.
Document Description
The proposed program would provide 18,000 acre-feet of reclaimed water per year to a private water wholesaler, with a maximum of 360,000 acre-feet over a 20-year period. The high quality effluent produced by the RIX plant is currently discharged to the Santa Ana River. Under the proposed progrm the water could be used for irrigation, groundwater recharge, environmental enhancement, and/or surface storage throughout the Inland Impire, Los Angeles Basin, Orange County, and San Diego County. Delivery of reclaimed water by way of existing facilities is possible, however, physical improvements for treatment, conveyance, or storage are likely to be necessary. The nature and location of such improvements are unknown at this time.
