Document Description
In 1994, the County commenced the process to build a new 93,000 square foot Courthouse building on a city block near the existing Superior Courts. Although a 327-space parking facility for the new Courthouse was built (between 23rd Street and AT&SF Railroad tracks), due to funding problems, the 93,000 square foot Courthouse building could not be built. The space problem at the Superior Courts has continued, and the Courts have determined that 50,000 square feet of space is necessary to meet the immediate space needs of the Superior Courts. The Courts have determined that the most efficient and cost effective manner in which the needed space could be provided would be by removing the temporary relocatable buildings that are currently used for courtrelated functions, demolishing the Old Library building, constructing a new three-story courthouse building near the existing permanent buildings to provide additional space.
