Document Description
The Department of Justice (DOJ) proposes to replace and relocate the Fresno forensic laboratory facility in the City of Fresno. The proposed facility would remain within the boundaries of the CSUF campus and replace the existing forensic laboratory nearby. The facility would be located in an urbanized area within the boundaries of the CSUF campus. The proposed project is necessary to provide a safer, less crowded and more efficient working environment. The existing facility is overcrowded, over 25 years old, and in need of extensive repairs. The proposed structure would be approximately 36,000 gross square feet. The building would be a single story structure and would house a staff of 28. It would have 10 secured parking spaces for employees and state vehicles, 10 unsecured spaces for visitor parking and drop-off, and 38 unsecured parking spaces for employees and visitors in the CSU parking lot near the project site. A wrought-iron security fence approximately 6 to a maximum of 8 feet high would enclose the secured vehicle area.
