Document Description
The proposed project would replace the existing fire alarm system in the education corridor of the facility with a new fire suppression and fire alarm system. Currently only the mill and cabinet, paint, autobody, carpentry shops, and several converted classrooms in the education corridor are protected by a fire alarm/fire sprinkler system. The project would install a new fire suppression and fire alarm system to cover all vocational shops and academic classrooms in the education corridor, the auditorium, the free venture areas, and the Training building. The new system would include new fire sprinkler risers, sprinkler heads, backflow preventers, fire department connections, flow switches, annunciators, all required interfacing to the central monitoring station, and security type heads at areas accessible to wards. The existing fire alarm control panel would be replaced with a new addressable reporting fire alarm control panel in the main control tower. The fire alarm control panel would monitor smoke detectors, thermal detectors, manual pull-stations, water flow switches, and post indicator valves. The project is needed because the existing system is in disrepair due to vandalism by wards, and system parts are difficult to find for this aging system. The project would accommodate the existing ward population.
