Document Description
An area approximately 135 feet long in the projected toe of the levee eroded within the Willow Slough Bypass channel in the winter of 1998-99. This has washed out the maintenance access road at the toe, making it unpassable, and unless stabilized compromises levee stability during flood flows. The Department of Water Resources proposes to repair this erosion scour as flood facility maintenance, by replacing about 60 feet of the most deeply scoured portion of the levee toe with compacted levee fill material, and regrading the remainder of the site to reestablish a stable slope angle. The face of the repaired site will be further stabilized with a mixture of soil and cobble rock, and all graded land will be reseeded with an herbaceous seed mixture. The work will be done in September and completed before October 1, 1999, to avoid potential impacts to the Giant garter snake.
