The City Redevelopment Agency is seeking a General Plan Amendment and rezoning for the 47-acre Elmwood Site, currently owned by Santa Clara County. The General Plan Amendment designations of Highway Service and Single Family Low Density Residential would be changed to General Commercial; and zoning from current Agricultural district to C2 (General Commercial). The project would also require Site and Architectural review. The Family Golf Driving Range would be relocated as part of the development process. The General Plan Amendment and rezoning would allow approximately 405,000 gross square feet of commercial uses, the majority of which the City would prefer be developed as a "big-box" retail uses and an auto dealership. Parking would be in accordance with City requirements of five spaces/1,000 square feet of retail space.
