Document Description
The LAUSD proposes to construct a new school that will accomodate approximately 692 students (daily average capacity). The construction of Bell Elementary School No.5 is intended to relieve current overcrowding at Woodlawn, Nueva Vista, Loma Vista, and Fishburne schools. The proposed school site id bounded by 61st Street to the north, Randolph Street to the south, Pine Avenue to the east, and Fishburne Avenue to the west. Currently, the 9.12 acre site supports a total of 140 dwelling units. Surrounding structures are a preschool, elementary school, church, retail/commercial, and residential. LAUSD proposes to construct 4 kindergarten classrooms, 20 classrooms, a special education classrooms, administration, library, multi-purpose room with kitchen and lunch shelter, and other support facilities to total approximately 47,000 square feet. Site is adjcent to railroad tracks.
