The SCWD Harding Canyon Treatment Plant is located in a disturbed undeveloped area of Modjeska Canyon. Existing Land use in the areas is rural residential.
The SCWD uses local water to supply the District's needs on a seasonal basis during the winter months. Recently, the Harding Canyon water supply source has been classified by the State Department of Health Services (DOHS) as being under the direct influence of surface water. It will be necessary to construct a new water treatment plant in order to meet the requirments of the Surface Water Treatment Rule (SWTR).
