Document Description
The City proposed Project will construct a new chlorine contact chamber (CCC) with a capacity up to 215 million-gallons per day (MGD) to be located just east of the new clearwells and within the existing Miramar Water Treatment Plant. The CCC will serve as a backup disinfection system to the existing ozone disinfection system currently in use. This CCC is designed with an adjacent lift station to allow continued operation and minimal process interruption when an ozone outage occurs. The current point of sodium hydroxide addition will be moved downstream of the CCC for improved disinfection efficiency when the ozone treatment is out of service. The CCC will be approximately 245 feet long x 170 feet wide x 15 feet deep. The Project will increase the capacity of the facilities from 144 MGD to 215 MGD to serve the current and projected population.
