This site is under the Southern California Edison power lines. It is presently used to grow Christmas trees. It is zoned M-3, Heavy Industrial and its Land Use Designation in the General Plan is 'Open Space'.
Document Description
The request is to install a 86,720 sq.ft. self-storage facility consisting of sea containers modified to allow individual lockable units. There will be an office with one sink and one toilet on site. The frontage along Firestone Boulevard will be heavily landscaped. The security will be maintained via electronic surveillance; therefore, employees will be on the site only during open hours. As the site is over 15,000 sq.ft. in area, a Site Plan Review by the Planning Commission is required and this type of use also requires a Conditional Use Permit for construction and operation. As the General Plan Land Use Desigantion is presently 'Open Space', the third action requested is to change the designation to 'Manufacturing'. The site is not served by a sewer main closer than 400 ft. and will, therefore, use a septic or other enclosed system for the waste from one sink and one toilet.
