Document Description
The California Department of Fish and Game (Department) is executing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the San Luis and Delta-Mendota Water Authority (Authority) for the Authority's use of Mud Slough (North) through the China Island Wildlife Area. The purpose of the Project is to allow the Authority to continue its discharge of saline agricultural drain water from the Grassland Drainage Area to the San Joaquin River via the Mud Slough. The northern portion of Mud Slough flows through the China Island Wildlife Area, which is owned by the Department. The Department entered into an MOU for use of Mud Slough (North) and to ensure that appropriate monitoring of Mud Slough and the San Joaquin River will occur, that water quality objectives will be met, and that Mud Slough will be restored to its pre-1995 condition after the Project is terminated. The project period is from the execution of the MOU through December 31, 2009, or until Mud Slough is restored, whichever is later.
