Document Description
Parsons Creek is a tributary to the Russian River, and is a second order stream. The project reach on Parsons Creek begins at the confluence with the Russian River and extends upstream to the end of the anadromous reach. This reach of Parsons Creek is owned by several private landowners. In the summer of 1998 a habitat inventory was conducted by the AmeriCorps Watershed Stewards Project. Recommendations from the inventory for Parsons Creek include: 1) increase the frequency and depth of pools 2) increase the complexity of pools by adding complex structures; 3) increase the canopy by planting native trees; and 4) develop a monitoring program to map road and upslope runoff and sediment transfer.
