Document Description
Project consists of reconstruction of a bell tower at El Presidio de Santa Barbara SHP. The bell tower will be constructed abutting the southwest facade of the chapel and will be modeled after similar extant bell towers from historic structures of the same time period. Alteration of existing padre's quarters will include moving the existing front (south) door slightly to the west. Small caissons (<18" diameter) will be used within and around existing stone foundation remains from the original bell tower to minimize impacts. The tower height will not exceed 18 feet from the chapel floor (18.75 feet from the ground level in front of the bell tower). No potential for significant impacts to the environment is anticipated.
