Document Description
The proposed project will involve the drilling of four, 40 foot deep (8 inch diameter) auger holes and two, 200 foot deep core holes (3 inch diameter). Drilling will be conducted using a large truck mounted rotary drilling rig equipped with a mud pump and adjoining pipe rack. Drilling will occur during daylight hours only. No occupied dwelling is present within three-quarter miles of any drill location. No site improvements other than mowing (to reduce fire hazard) will be required for site preparation. Additional support vehicles including a water tender, semi-tractor-lowboy trailer for drill rig transport, drill rig support vehicle, and pickup trucks will be parked on-site. The drilling rig and associated equipment will occupy an area of approximately 100 feet by 50 feet. No improvements or ground disturbance will be required to allow vehicular access to the drill locations. A pit to contain drilling wastes (approximately 20 feet wide by 20 feet long by 2 feet deep) will be excavated adjacent to the drill site within upland habitats. With landowners permission, all drill wastes (rock cuttings and inert bentonite clay) in the pit will be covered over and left on-site upon core hole completeion. Upon project completion all areas where bare soil are present will be seeded with native herbaceous species.
