Document Description
With the Kern County Water Agency (Agency), as the non-Federal Lead Agency, in cooperation with the US Corps of Engineers, the Kern River - California Aqueduct Intertie Basin Restoration Project provides for the removal of approximately 90,000 cubic yards of sediment from the Intertie basin and rehabiltation of 100 feet of embankment. The Project will restore the authorized design level of flood protection of the Intertie basin and structure to pre-flood conditions in order to ensure the structural integrity of the Kern River - California Aqueduct Intertie. The sediment from the Project will be transported offsite to the disposal area located to the south within the Buena Vista Lake bed. The disposal areas are on a private levee system owned by the J.G. Boswell Company. The disposed material will be used to build up the levee slopes. The 100 feet of eroded embankment repair will be filled with approximately 200 cubic yards of the sediment removed from the basin, and shaped to match the adjacent embankment.
