Permanent assignment of contractual rights of 20,500 acre-feet per year of state water project contract water from a portion of Kern County into the Kings County portion of Westlands Water District. The SWP entitlement drafted for WWD to purchase 20,500 AF/Y of SWP entitlement water from potentially three districts that are members of the KCWA: Belridge Water Storage District, Lost Hills Water District and potentially Berrenda Mesa Water District. All three selling districts are located in Northwestern Kern County. The SWP water from the transfer will supplement WWD's current Central Valley Project supplies and will be used to help reduce water supply deficits in WWD, reduce groundwater pumping and associated overdraft and provide greater flexibility in water deliveries.
