Document Description
The Metropolitan Water District of Southern California (Metropolitan) proposes to sand blast and recoat the trveling bridge rails which are used to transport the sand pumps over the ten sand removal bays at each of the pumping plants referenced above. These three sand traps were designed to capture and remove the sand and silt that is suspended in the water in the Colorado River Aqueduct (CRA). These sand traps were constructed as part of the CRA project during the 1930s and the traveling bridge rails have been in operation for the last 60 years with the original protective coating.
