The proposed Pittsburg General Plan is a new document that replaces the existing 1988 General Plan. The General Plan is comprised of goals, policies, a land use diagram, and other figures (for example, planned transportation system) to guide future development within the City's Planning Area. Additionally, policies within the Downtown Element are intended to replace the 1986 Downtown Specific Plan. The General Plan includes the seven elements required by State Law-Land Use, Transportation, Conservation, Open Space, Safety, Noise, and Housing-as well as optional elements, including Downtown, Growth Management, Urban Design, Economic Development, and Public Facilities.
