Document Description
The levees were damaged by the "El Nino" floods of 1998. Reclamation District 3 maintains the levees surrounding Grand Island, located in The Sacramento River Delta in southwestern Sacramento County. 41 levee erosion sites are to be repaired, totaling 9,000 linear feet of shoreline. Eroded sites will be repaired by excavating them to firm ground then backfilling with soil where necessary, and replacing rock riprap. Fish and wildlife habitat impacts will be mitigated by replanting the shoreline with herbaceous or woody plants, including about 100 linear feet offsite.
