Document Description
The Agency will amend and merge the approximately 909-acre Indio Centre and the approximately 1,597-acre Date Capital Redevelopment Project Areas into a single redevelopment project area to be called the Merged Area. Separately, the Agency will amend the Merged Area to add peripheral areas adjacent to and surrounding these Existing Projects. These peripheral areas are to be referred to as the Amendment Area and consist of approximately 2,860 acres (including about 197 acres within unincorporated Riverside County). The "Project" consists of the merger and amendment of the Existing Projects and the addition of the Amendment Area. The Project will encompass approximately 5,366 acres, or about 32% of the land area of the City. Development in the Project Area will be consistent with the goals and policies of the Indio General Plan. Development in the Project Area is expected to include up to between approximately 1,200 and 2,400 dwelling units by the year 2000.
