Document Description
The existing chemical disinfection system uses gaseous chlorine and sulfur dioxide. These do do not comply with current Uniform Fire Code regulations, which require containment and neutralization systems to counter accidental release of toxic gases. LVMWD is proposing to become compliant by replacing the existing system with liquid sodium hypochlorite and sodium bisulfite storage and dosing systems. To explore additional disinfection options, a pilot UV disinfection program will also be implemented to disinfect up to 1 mgd of effluent.
