Document Description
The (DTSC) proposes to grant an Emergency Permit in accordance with Title 22, California Code of Regulations, Section 66720.61 to the University of California, Berkeley (UCB) to allow treatment of reactive laboratory wastes at the Evans Baseball Field area on the UCB campus. These reactive laboratory were discovered during inventory and restocking of lab materials at the Latimer Hall Building.

Reasons for Exemption
The treatment activity is necessary to remove the reactive wastes from the chemistry laboratories at Latimer Hall to reduce the danger to student, faculty, and campus staff. The treatment must be performed onsite because the reactive waste are forbidden by the United States Department of Transportation for transport on public roads, and are unacceptable at disposal facilities without stabilization.
