Reasons for Exemption
The treatment activity is necessary to remove the reactive wastes from the chemistry laboratories to reduce the danger to UC staff. The treatment must be performed onsite because the reactive waste are forbidden by the United States Deparment of Transportation for transport on public roads, and are unacceptable at disposal facilities without stabilization.
