The proposed project would involve the following: cleaning and repair of the 10th and 12th Street culverts, installation of wingwalls and a maintenance road at the 10th Street culverts, repair of existing wingwalls at the 7th Street pump station and rerplacement of trash racks at the pump station. All area under construction would be dewatered during construction. The purpose of the proposed project is to correct several problems in the Lake Merritt Flood Control system. First, to decrease flooding in the Lake Merritt area by restoring the design capacity of the culverts, and by improving the flows through the trash racks; secondly, to repair existing erosion damage by repairing the wingwalls at the 7th Street pump station, and by installing wingwalls at the 10th Street culverts; and finally, to improve maintenance access to the 10th Street culverts so that they can be more easily cleared of debris during storms.
