Offshore, several telecommunications cables lie in a wedge-shaped area of Morro Bay where the new AT&T cables E1 and S7 are proposed to be located. Trawl and other commercial and recreational fishermen commercially fish this ocean area, beyond State waters to a depth of 1000 fathoms. The onshore cable landing is located in the parking lot of Montana de Oro State Park.
Document Description
Installation of two new fiber optics cables on the seafloor off Morro Bay, San Luis Obispo County, connecting to the existing AT&T onshore cable facilities at Montana de Oro State Park. These cables are segments of AT&T's China-U.S. "ring" network. Segment S7 will head westerly to provide a direct link to the People's Republic of China. Segment E1 will connect Morro Bay to Bandon, Oregon. An existing cable will complete the "ring" from Bandon to China.
