- Document Description
- Caltrans proposes to construct the State Route 49 Amador Bypass Project, a two-lane expressway with intersections, to bypass the communities of Sutter Creek and Amador City in Amador County. The purpose of the project is to reduce the congestion experienced in these historic communities on existing Route 49 and improve system continuity while preserving tourism. Two build alternatives and a no build alternative were studied. Alternative 4A has been selected as the preferred alternative. Anticipated impacts include reduction of habitat, removal of oak woodlands, and impacts to a historical mining feature. Mitigation measures are proposed that reduce or avoid these impacts.
