Application to Appropriate Water #29202 & 29203

The purpose of this project is to provide water for irrigation, heat protection,and frost protection of 141 acres of vineyard. The applicants currently hold water right permits 17960A and 17960B (Applications 26022A and 26022B) which allow for the direct diversion of 2 cubic feet per second (cfs) and storage of 49.5 acre-feet per annum (afa). Applications 29202 and 29203 seek the right to directly divert an addition 21 cfs and store an additional 130 afa. Under the applied for and existing rights, use of water has developed since the 1960's by operation of a fully construucted and integrated frost protection and irrigation system. Water has been stored in and regulated through existing onstream Reservoir #1 (covered under Permits 17960A and 17960B), then transferred from Reservoir #1 via 6-inch gravity pipeline to existing Reservoir #2 (covered under Application 29202), from where it sometimes pumped to to existing onstream Reservoir #3 (covered under Application 29202). Reservoir #2 receives gravity inflow from identified point of diversion (POD) #3 and POD #4. Reservoir #3 receives gravity inflow from POD #1 and POD#2. POD's #1, #2, #3 receives water from very small drainage streams that have been rerouted through buried pipelines.
