Document Description
Project consists of rerouting the washed out campground entrance road into Gaviota Creek campground. The reroute consists of connecting the existing entrance road with campsites 41 and 42, thus creating a new access route into the interior of the campground. This will require paving approx. 1,500 sq. ft. including previously disturbed ground between the existing entrance road the campsites 41 and 42 and campsites 41 and 42 themselves. This project will also require the removal of 37.5 ft. of fencing, campsite furniture (two tables and two fire rings) from campsites 41 and 42, four concrete parking berms, and the removal or relocation of a 15 mph speed sign. The new roadway will need to be painted with a solid yellow center line in the curve, a limit line and STOP where the new entrance road intersects the internal campground road, and roadway shoulder lines creating two 10 foot lanes with extra width in curves to create adequate turning radius (min. of extra 4 ft. width in turns). The previously existing fencing that was washed away will be replaced in kind to separate the campground from the creek bank. The area to be fenced is approx. 161 ft. in length, requiring 27 posts and 54 horizontal spans. No potential for significant impacts to the environment is anticipated.
