Document Description
The California Department of Toxic Substances Control (DTSC) adopted an Addendum to the previous Negative Declaration and approved the renewal of the Safety Kleen of California, Inc. Santa Maria Standardized Hazardous Waste Permit (Permit). The Safety Kleen Santa Maria Facility (Facility) is a storage and transfer facility for used oil, waste antifreeze, oily water, and oily debris/oily solids, and operates under the current permit. The Facility currently is permitted, and will renew its permitted status for an additional ten (10) years, to store and transfer waste in a 10,500-gallon tank (Tank 1) divided into two compartments, one to store waste antifreeze and the other to store used oil or oily water; a 10,200-gallon tank (Tank 2) to store used oil; and a drum storage unit where a maximum of ten 55-gallon sized drums may be stored. A maximum of 14,000 gallons of waste may be stored in trucks within the loading and unloading and truck-to-truck transfer area (Unit 3). All waste transfer and storage activities are conducted in secondary containment to prevent any waste from running off site.
