Document Description
The San Francisco Public Utilities Commission with cost-share and technical support from the USFWS Partners for Fish & Wildlife Program is proposing to enhance habitat for California red-legged frog (CRLF, Rana aurora draytonii) by removing sediment behind Dam # 2 on San Mateo Creek. The excavation will be conducted with a front end loader, excavator and dump truck. Dam #2 is one of two small diversion dams on San Mateo Creek above the Crystal Springs Reservoir in San Mateo Co. The entire San Mateo Creek watershed above Crystal Springs Reservoir is owned by the SFPUC. This watershed is within a California Fish and Game Wildlife Refuge and is mostly closed to public access. The California Dept. of Fish and Game is executing a Lake and Streambed Alteration Agreement No. 1600-2008-0460-3 pursuant to Sec. 1602 of the Fish and Game Code to the project Applicant, San Francisco Public Utilities Commission.
