Acquisition, Permanent Repair and Operation of the El Dorado Hydroelectric Project (Project No.184)

Note: Addendum to the FEIR The activities addressed in the Acquisition, Permanent Repair, and Operation of the El Dorado Hydroelectric Project and Acquisition of 17,000 Acre-feet per year of New Consumptive Water Final EIR included acquiring Project 184 and associated features from Pacific Gas and Electric Company, conducting various permanent repairs to restore operation of Project 184, continuing to operate Project 184 consistent with Federal Energy Regulatory Commission requirements, and acquiring 17,000 acre-feet of consumptive water supplies to be diverted for the benefit of the El Dorado Irrigation District (District) customers at Folsom Reservoir through a Warren Act Contract with the U.S. bureau of Reclamation (Reclamation). The Final EIR did not contemplate the potential for a Contract amount less than full 17,000 acre-feet of consumptive water supplies provided by the water right permit held by the District. For the purposes of this temporary Contract, Reclamation and EID have agreed to limit the withdrawal of consumptive supplies made available by this water right permit to no more than 8,500 acre feet per year. No changes are proposed in the operation of Project 184 associated with the Project, and no new facilities are proposed. The Project 184 five-year Warren Act Contract and acquisition of 8,500 acre-feet will require minor, technical changes to the Final EIR. Therefore, an Addendum has been completed by the District in accordance with CEQA Guidelines Section 15164.
