Document Description
The project, approved on June 15, 1999, is a railyard terminal that includes development of eight rail lines and associated entrance gate, administrative and maintenance structures, new utility systems, container storage, truck parking and new roadway access. The JIT project site was to be developed in two phases: JIT Phase I which has been constructed, and Phase 2 which would result in construction of two additional loading tracks. At present the JIT Phase 1 is considered sufficient to fulfill the needs for intermodal services at the Port of Oakland. Until additional JIT loading tracks are needed, the Port is proposing to use portions of the JIT Phase 2 area for maritime-support activities, including construction of three cargo transload facilities.
