Document Description
The project, approved on June 15, 1999, is a railyard terminal that includes development of eight rail lines and associated entrance gate, administrative and maintenance structures, new utility systems, container storage, truck parking and new roadway access. The portion of the site located on the Knight Yard in the former Oakland Army Base may be used for auxiliary railcar storage and will require reconfiguration of the existing track layout. The objective of the project is to provide safe, efficient and cost-effective movement of containerized inermodal cargo between the Port of Oakland berths and railcars.
