North County Jail - Case No. 04EIR-00000-00009

The proposed project, commonly known as the North County Jail Project, includes the development of a 400- to 800-bed Detention Facility and various ancillary uses. Construction of the facility would occur in two broad phases. The initial phase would involve an estimated 175,865 square feet of building area with 400 beds. This phase would be completed in approximately five years. At build out, there would be approximately 277,705 square feet of building area and up to 800 beds. It is estimated that build out would occur over a period of approximately 20 years. In all likelihood, some of the buildings would have two stories and, ultimately, the proposed Detention Facility would also include a sheriff's substation, fire station, arraignment courtroom, and public safety training facility.
