TO AVOID FLOODING FARMLANDS IN THE TULARE LAKE BED. RECENT HEAVY RAINS AND SNOW MELT IN THE SIERRAS HAVE CAUSED EXCESS FLOWS IN THE KAWEAH AND TULE RIVERS WHICH DRAIN INTO THE TULARE LAKE BED, CREATING THE POTENTIAL FOR FLOODING.
