Document Description
The San Francisco Water Department (SFWD) and the Santa Clara Valley Water District (SCVWD) propose to construct a pump station facility with connecting pipelines on Milpitas in order to allow water exchange between the two suppliers to provide an alternative water supply in the event of an emergency or planned critical work on facilities for either supplier. The proposed location of southwest of Turquoise Street east of the Union Pacific Railroad yard, and east of a drainage channel known as Wrigley Creek. The project will necessitate the removal of one ash tree which is 14.5" DBH (45.5" in circumference); this ash tree is not native to the watershed. As a condition for project approval, and in accordance with the Mitgratory Bird Treaty Act, the tree will be examined by a qualified biologist for possible nesting birds before it is cut down. If nesting birds are found to be present, the project will be delayed until they have fledged (i.e. left the tree). A permit from the City of Milpitas will be obtained before the tree is removed.
