Document Description
On April 5, 2009 the Secretary of the Interior announced that $20 million of American Recovery & Reinvestment Act funding is being allocated to build the Contra Costa Canal fish screens. The Contra Costa Canal fish screens will mitigate fishery impacts resulting from operation of the Contra Costa Canal Pumping Plant No. 1 as well as support compliance with the Los Vaquerod Biological Opinion and the Central Valley Project Improvement Act. On October 20, 1997, the California Dept. of Water Resources adopted a CEQA Negative Declaration in support of the United States Bureau of Reclamation design of the Project. The Project was designed by Reclamation and ready for construction bids in 2000. However, the Project was delayed due to limited funding and complications associated with land acquisition.
