Document Description
The proposed project is an application to the Monterey County Health Department (MCHD) for revision of the MRWMD's SWFP. The MRWMD is proposing to submit an application that describes a range of physical improvements and/or operational changes it plans to implement at the MPL. A number of the proposed actions are described in a report entitled "Updated Master Plan Report for the Monterey Peninsula Landfill (2004)" (hereafter "Master Plan Update") prepared for the actions needed to increase MPL waste capacity and service life. Because the Master Plan Update contains a number of actions proposed as SWFP revisions, by proxy, this initial study also evaluates the environmental effects of implementing the Master Plan Update. A second set of proposed actions are independent of the Master Plan Update. These actions are proposed largely to enable the MRWMD to meet projected increases in demand for solid waste disposal services within and outside of the MRWMD's service area.
